"The Carolina Panthers have retained head coach Ron Rivera for the 2013 season, Joseph Person reports.

After meeting with team owner Jerry Richardson on Saturday, Rivera's assistants said they were not sure which way the meeting would go. Rivera has two years left on his original $11 million contract with the Panthers.

The team will begin interviewing general manager candidates in Monday. Acting GM Brandon Beane will be among those vying for the job."
